DEATH OF MRS. THOMAS ETHERIDGE
The death of Mrs. Thomas Etheridge, which occurred at her home near Murray 
Sunday afternoon, was a great shock to her family and friends.  While she had 
been ill for several days her condition appeared so much improved Sunday 
morning that the members of her household were wholly unprepared for the sad 
blow.  The life of this wife and mother was one of usefulness and good deeds, 
and she had entwined about her the love of many friends who deeply morn the 
grim messenger's untimely summons.  She leaves a grief stricken husband and 
nine children and to these many hearts go out in sympathy.  The remains were 
laid to rest in Concord cemetery Monday in the presence of a large concourse 
of sorrowing relatives and friends.

(Notes:  According to “The History of Schley County, Mrs. Thomas Etheredge 
(Mattie E. Murray Etheredge) was married to William Thomas Etheredge.  She was 
born 28 Dec 1852 and died 22 August 1897.)
