R. Gresham Passes W. R. Gresham, one of Marion counties oldest and most prominent citizens, died at his home in Putnam Friday afternoon after a prolonged illness. Mr. Gresham was in his 85th year. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his daughter Mrs. David Wicker, with the Rev. Lee pastor of the Hopewell Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Ellaville cemetery. Mr. Gresham was retired Section Foreman of the Central of Georgia Railway. He was born in Americus, Georgia but spent most of his life in Marion County. Mr. Gresham is survived by his wife, the former Miss Susie Collum, three daughters Mr. David Wicker of Putnam, Mrs. T. H. Eason and Mrs. R. L. Thomas of Atlanta, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The following served as pallbearers, Oliver Miller, Jack Busby, Ernest Hart, Felton Harbuck, Hilton Owens, and Billy Snyder. From Americus GA Times Recorder dated Feb. 14, 1949 (Monday) Services for Bob Gresham Held Ellaville, GA, Feb. 14 Funeral services for Bob Gresham, popular Marion County man, well-known in Schley County, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his sister in Putnam. Mr. Gresham died Friday afternoon at his home on the Marion-Schley County line, after a long illness. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Susie Collum, and three daughters Mrs. David Wicker, Putnam, Mrs. Howell Eason, Atlanta, and another daughter of Atlanta whose name could not be learned. Rev. T. O. Lambert of the Buena Vista Methodist church officiated at the services Saturday afternoon, assisted by the Rev T. M. Lee of the Ellaville Methodist Church. Interment was in the Ellaville Cemetery.
