Funeral services were held Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Mark Poole officiated. Mr. Hambrick was born October 2, 1922 in Schley County, GA. He was the son of the late Katie Vyrlin (Souter) and Jessie Walton Hambrick. He was the owner of Planter's Hardware in Ellaville, GA for many years and operated Hambrick's Home Construction. In his later years, Mr. Hambrick returned to Planter's Hardware as an employee and retired at the age of 74. Mr. Hambrick was active in community service and church services all of his life. He served as a Schley County Commissioner from January 1969 to January 1973. He attended Britt David Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. Mr. Hambrick was a loving father and husband and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his beloved wife Ramona Hambrick; two daughters and sin in laws, Starr and Carl Peede of Seattle, WA, Carla and Daryl Tucker of Ellaville, GA; one son and daughter in law, Benny and Nancy Hambrick of Quebeck, TN; two step-children, Alan Register and wife Judy of Dallas, GA, and Julie Mitcham and husband Jim of Yorktown, VA; eight grandchildren, Barry Hambrick, Brian Hambrick, Brett Hambrick, Melissa Jackson, Ryan Peede, Cameron Peede, Janna Kepner, and Hannah Tucker. Active pallbearers included Steven Hambrick, Joe Allen, Brian Hambrick, Wayne Hambrick, Ryan Peede, and Cameron Peede. Murray Ellis served as honorary pallbearer. Visitation was held on Friday, January 11, 2008 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA. The family request donations be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909 in lieu of flowers.
