Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Ellaville Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Cook officiating. Mrs. Hart was born March 24, 1916 in Schley County, the daughter Aeolia Etheridge Murray and David Rufus Murray. She was a retired Postmaster and the last Postmaster to be appointed by President Harry Truman, and remained active in the Georgia and National Association of Postmasters. She was a community advocate for numerous organizations. Nationally, she lobbied for Andersonville to become a national park and served on a committee which selected the Veterans of all wars Memorial Statue at Andersonville National Park. Locally, Mrs. Hart served as a charter member of Post 191, American Legion Auxiliary for 50 years, as past president of the Eastern Star, on Schley County Library Board, and was the first woman to serve on the Ellaville City Council, as well as the first woman in Schley county to serve on a jury. While serving as a member of the Schley County Preservation Society, she helped gather information for the publication of the History of Schley County in 1982. She was an active member and served as an officer in the Schley County Chapter of the American Red Cross and on the Ellaville Memorial Association. After retirement, "Miss Endine" spent her time with her pets, her family, winning golf trophies, traveling and community service. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Rucker, Gavilan Hills, CA and Harriette Murray, Peachtree City, GA, three grandchildren, Linda McClaskey, Norco, CA, George Rucker, Gavilan Hills, CA, Dana Brown, Tucker, GA and four great- granchildren, B.J., Sarah, Caty, and Harris McClaskey, Norco, CA. Served as pallbearers were Clint Law, David Streetman, Robbie Pilcher, Terry Tondee, Jimmy Phillips and John Gill. Serving as honorary pallbearers are veterans of American Legion Post 191 in Ellaville, the American Legion Auxiliary, also Johnny Wall, Steve Arrington, Rev. W.C. Black and Clarence Way. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Schley County Preservation Society. The family received friends, Monday, November 9, at the Hart residence.
