Grandma was in her 83 year and had been a life long member of the Methodist church of Concord. Through all these many years of sorrows, disappointments and cares, incident to our lives in this world, her confidence grew stronger and her hope in heaven grew brighter and brighter. Although her sufferings were very great since January, she was never heard to complain and was always submissive to Gods will in sickness as well as in health. May the loved ones left behind so live that when our days are ended here we may meet her on that happy shore to live with her forever where sickness and sorrows, heart aches and disappointments come no more but where we shall dwell in love, joy and peace forever. Her remains were brought from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Hammonds of Butler to Concord, and after a very impressive ceremony by Rev. C.D. Carter, she was laid to rest by the side of her husband who preceded her only a few short years. By a grandaughter. Additional Comments: As a Hill researcher, this obit is particularly puzzling. Mary Elizabeth Joiner Hill, wife of Lewis Hill builder and early owner of Hill's Mill in Concord, is buried at Concord Methodist church next to her husband. Her stone in that cemetery shows a date of death of 14 June 1909, yet this obituary which does not give a date of death appeared in the August 5, 1910 issue of the Schley County News which suggests the date on the marker could be as much as a year or more off.
