WILLIS HOGG, 58, DIES HERE Schley Mourns His Passing H. Willis Hogg, 58, one of Schley county's foremost citizens, died at his residence here Sunday morning about 9 o'clock after an illness of two weeks. Funeral services were held in the flower-banked residence Monday afternoon with the Rev. Roy J. Bond officiating. Burial was in Ellaville cemetery. Born in Marion county on March 6, 1884, Mr. Hogg lost his left eye while playing with fireworks as a small boy. He moved to Ellaville 35 years ago and on December 20, 1917, married Miss Mary Dixon. An insurance man and cotton broker, Mr. Hogg also had extensive farming interests. He took an interest in political affairs of the county and served two terms as representative in the general assembly and one in the state senate. He was mayor of Ellaville for a number of years. Mr. Hogg was a steward of Ellaville Methodist church. He also was a member of the local Knights of Pythias lodge. Known and admired by his kindness and understanding service toward all less fortunate than himself, Mr. Hogg was one of Schley's most popular as well as most successful men. Surviving besides his widow are two sons, Lt. Willis Dixon Hogg, now serving with the army in England, and Jimmy, student in Ellaville grammer school; two sisters, Mrs. Nell H. Jenkins of Columbus, and Mrs. W.E. Pickard of Buena Vista; two brothers, Clyde and J.P. Hogg, both of Buena Vista. Nephews served as pallbearers. They were Charles Hogg, Clyde Hogg, Jr., Horace Halley, Edwin Pickard, Lester Halley and Bob Swearingen.
