Howe, the mother of Mrs. W.D. Murray of our city. Mrs. Howe was born in Monroe county, February 22nd, 1829, and was in her eighty-second year. She has always been noted as a woman of rare accomplishments, frugal, industrious and ever ready to help those who need help. As the mother of five children, four of whom are living, she was ever loyal to her duties, and left for them an example worthy of emulation. For many years she resided in Ellaville and here she drew to her a large circle of friends. Those who knew her best loved her most. Possessing a splendid disposition and an inherent desire to do all things that were rightful, she shed a good christian influence on every one with whom she came in contact. Her trust she had stayed upon the Lord. The grim reaper had no dread from her. Having lived for more than three score years and ten, she was ready and when her spirit winged its flight to the great beyond, wecould all truthfully exclaim, a good woman has gone. Well could Solomon say of her, "She maketh herself coverings of tapestry," for her hands were ever busy, doing for herself and others. The world is better for such woman having lived in it. They are the very salt of the earth. By their noble deeds, they enrich the lives of others, and exert an inestimable influence. Mrs. Howe is survived by three daughters, Mrs. P.H. Williams, of Americus, Mrs. Jasper Murray, of Oglethorpe, Mrs. W.D. Murray, of Ellaville, and one son, Mr. Robet Howe, of Sumpter county, besides a number of grand children and several great grandchoildren. Her funeral was conducted from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Williams, Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev. R.E. Bailey officiating, and her remains were interred beside those of her husband, who preceded her to the grave several years ago. Thus another Mother in Israel" has gone to her reward. We tender the bereaved ones our sincerest sympathy, feeling that they have one more link to draw them Heavenward. Additional Comments: The Howes are buried at Ellaville cemetery. Husband's initials were J.T. according to his marker. Anyone know his name or Mrs. Howe's maiden name?
