JOHNSON, 46, VICTIM OF CAR CRASH Hundreds of stunned relatives and friends joined Wednesday in paying tribute to C.T. Johnson, 46, popular and prominent automobile dealer, who was instantly killed Monday morning in an automobile accident three miles south of Deerfield Brach, Fla. The tragedy occurred when Mr. Johnson, who had swerved his car to the left of the road in an attempt to avoid striking a car that had just slowed almost to a stop, collided with a northbound bus. His Packard sedan was completely demolished. Mr. Johnson was en-route to Miami where he had moved a month ago and established a business. The body was brought to Ellaville Tuesday afternoon, and funeral services were conducted from the residence of J.H. Stevens Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Dr. J.B. Lawrence, rector of Calvary Episcopal church of Americus, officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Roy J. Bond. Burial was in Ellaville cemetery. Born in Marion county December 17, 1894, he was the son of W.N. and Fanny Cumbus Johnson. Moving to Ellaville when he was 15 years old, he was the first honor graduate of the local high school in 1910. Soon afterwards, he taught school for a year in Fellowship school in Schley county. Mr. Johnson served overseas during the World War, being one of the first men to go from Schley county. He married Miss Roxie Stevens of Ellaville on February 27, 1924. Assistant cashier of the Bank of Ellaville for several years, he also was employed in banks in several other Georgia cities and North Carolina. Since the early 1930's he had operated Chrysler, Plymouth and Packard agencies in Americus and Ellaville. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic and Knights of Pythias lodges and the Elks club. Surviving besides his widow are three sisters, Mrs. Walter Jones, Ellaville; Mrs. C.A. Pye, Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. J.M. Chapman, LeGrand, Cal.; W.B. Johnson, Atlanta; Lester Johnson, Miami; H.H. Johnson, Ellaville, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Linton S. Tondee, R.C. Brooks, C.C. Williamson, M.J. Arrington, Eugene Dixon, Morris Hill, Glynn Lindsay and George Cannon of Americus.
