JUSTICE Mrs. Evelyn S. Justice, age 93, a lifetime resident of Ellaville, GA died Tuesday morning, April 8, 2010 at Magnolia Manor in Americus, GA. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Ellaville Baptist Church, burial followed in the Ellaville Cemetery. Rev. John Carr and Rev. Ben Foxworth officiated. Mrs. Justice was born September 23, 1916 in Schley County, GA, the daughter of Naomi Julia Tondee Souter and Wilbur Brooks Souter. She retired as clerk of the Schley County Board of Education after 38 years. Mrs. Justice had worked for Raymond Duncan, who was superintendent of schools as was founder of the Ellaville Sun newspaper. She wrote the social pages for the newspaper. For years, she also wrote the obituaries for the Americus Times recorder. After her husband’s death in 1987, Mrs. Justice worked alongside her son Wilbur Justice for years at his service station in Ellaville until her health prevented it. Mrs. Justice was an active member of Ellaville Baptist Church where she held the oldest membership of the church. Mrs. Justice was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Justice. She is survived by one son and daughter in law, Wilbur and Vicki Justice of Ellaville, GA; two grandsons, Brian Justice and wife Sandy of Ellaville, Jason Justice and wife, Dawn of Ellaville; seven great grandchildren, Caleb Justice, Anna Justice, Mary Katherine Justice, liberty justice, Dixie Justice, Jasper Goodin, Danielle Goodin; and one great-great grandson, Connor Justice. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Americus and Sumter County. Pallbearers included Barry Snipes, Rusty Tondee, Shane Tondee, Jerry Justice, Chris Justice and Robbie Brown. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 7, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA.
