Lawhorn. The Schley County News Friday, August 25, 1911 IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE On the 28th day of May 1911, the death angel visited our home and claimed our dear sister Mrs. F.D. Lawhorn. After eight days of severe suffering, she passed from the kind embraces of husband, brothers, sisters, and dear little children, into, we trust, the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. It is sad indeed to know that she is gone. One of my greatest pleasures was to have her visit us. She was always so cheerful, looking always on the bright side of everything. On Sunday morning before death came about four o'clock in the afternoon, she told us not to bring her any more medicine. We had done all we could do, had gone as far as we could go, just to give me the lines "I am ready to go." Oh! what a sweet consolation to hear from her own dear lips, "I am ready to go." But oh! how rebellious I find myself against His Holy will in taking her from us. She leaves a heart-broken husband, four small children, four brothers, and three sisters, to mourn their loss, together with a host of friends. And now by way of consolation for our dear brother, I will say no man ever had a more loving and devoted wife, and no woman a kinder and more faithful husband, and remember that this, the darkest cloud that has ever over-shadowed your life has a silvery lining, and ere long we hope to be reunited in that beautiful land of our Redeemer. By her sister, Mrs. J.R. Murray (This is a misprint, it should be Mrs. D.R. Murray) Since the above was written we have been bowed in the deepest of sorrow at the going away of our dear little niece. The sweet little babe was born Dec. 18th, and died July 28th. Only two months to the day was little Dorris permitted to gladden our hearts with her sweet presence after her mother's death. We all loved her so much, because she was so quiet and patient, and had such a soft expression in her little eyes. Oh! she was so dear to us; and though we begged to keep her, and did all we could to frighten death from her little cradle, yet at last we had to let fall our powerless hands. But when the last moments came and her little body rested in such quiet and perfect ease, that those who stood by hardly knew when her little spirit left this world of sin, and passed through the pretty gates of Heaven, leaving a sweet smile of perfect peace and rest upon her face. Now we know that little Dorris is with Jesus and we who loved her so dearly should be reconciled and say, "Thou God doeth all things well." Mrs. D.R.
