LIGHTNER, OF IDEAL, DIES Dr. Lester Lightner, 57, prominent practicing physician at Ideal for a quarter century, was paid final tribute at funeral services conducted from the residence there Saturday. Dr. Lightner died Friday of a heart ailment after a critical illness of several weeks. The Rev. W.W. Whaley and the Rev. Virgil Culpepper officiated at the funeral and burial was in the Ideal cemetery. Born in Schley county in 1883, he was the son of E.T. and Adeline Hobbs Lightner. Following his graduation from an Atlanta medical school, in 1913, he served an internship at an Augusta hospital. He came to Ideal in 1914, and established a wide practice. Survivors include three sisters, Miss Mary Lightner and Mrs. J.W. Nelson, Sr., both of Ideal; Mrs. L.B. Brooks, of Atlanta; three brothers, Dr. J.T. Lightner, Columbus; Dr. Homer G. Lightner, Lexington, Ky., and J.E. Lightner, Ideal; besides a number of other relatives. Pallbearers were R.C. Brooks, the Rev. Henry Brooks, Hansell Lightner, John Lester Lightner, Howard park and Wallace Nelson Junior.
