Graveside services for John Lester Lightner, Sr., 65, of Ellaville, who died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, were planned today at 4 P.M. from Ellaville Cemetery with Dr. T.L. McConnell officiating. Mr. Lightner was a native and lifelong resident of Schley County. A well-known farmer, he was a 1939 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Agriculture, and for 15 years was employed with the Farmers Home Administration, Americus office. He was a member of the Ellaville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Lightner is survived by four sons, Johnny Lightner, Plains, Bob Lightner, Americus, Hank Lightner, Ellaville, and Dr. Joe Lightner, Newnan; two brothers, Lynward Lightner, Tampa, Fla., and Hansel Lightner Clearwater, Fla., and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers include Wilbur Justice, Steve Arrington, Edgar Devane, Jr., Charlie Battle, Lamar Jordan, and Steve Wurtz. Americus Times-Recorder Friday, June 7, 1985. HANSEL E. LIGHTNER Clearwater Fla.----Hansel E. Lightner, 75, of 309 North Highland Ave., Clearwater, Fla. died Thursday at a Clearwater hospital. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery. A native of Ellaville, he was the son of the late Joseph S. Lightner, and Bessie Lou Sears Lightner. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Leah Smith Lightner, Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, Lynward S. Lightner, Shellman, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Rhodes-Wice Funeral Home, Clearwater, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
