MABLE, BERTHA BANKS
Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha B Mable, of 207 Tom Hall Circle, Americus, GA 
will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 1997, at the New St Paul 
Baptist Church.  The Reverend James Milledge will officiate and burial will 
follow in the Staley Memorial Gardens.
  Mrs. Bertha B Mable was born in Sumter County on July 7, 1919 to the 
parentage of the late Mr. Jury Banks and the late Mrs. Carrie McCrary Banks.  
At an early age she joined the New St. Paul Baptist Church where she served 
faithfully until her health failed.  She was joined in holy matrimony to the 
late Mr. Claude Mable on September 16, 1941. 
  Those left to cherish her memory are her eight daughters, Ms Willie Pearl 
(Jessie) Bateman, Ms Mary Lizzie (Charles) Cooper, Ms Georgia (Lawrence) 
Johnson, Ms Johnnie Mae (Johnny) Lyles, Ms Ola Mae Lyles, Ms Dorothy Lyles, Ms 
Patricia Ann (David) Bell and Ms Evelyn (Jimmie) Asberry; six sons, Mr. Joe 
Lewis (Mattie)Mable, Mrs. Eddie (Ella) Banks, Mr. Johnny Edward (Geneva) 
Mable, Mr. Eddie James Mable, the Reverend Claude Mullins, and Mr. John Henry 
(Estelle) Mable, one brother, Mr. George (Mattie Mae) Banks, two sisters, Ms 
Willie Bell Jones and Ms Leola Jackson, one aunt, Ms Frances Morgan, 6 devoted 
grandchildren whom she reared as her own, Mr. Anthony E Mable, Mr. Arthur B 
Mable, Mr Eddie Will Mable, Mr. Sammie L Mable, Mr. Walter Mable and Mr. 
Jessie J Mable; 59 grandchildren, 90 great grandchildren, three great-great 
grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
