H.C. MATTOX, 77 A graveside service was held at Ellaville cemetery Sunday morning in tribute to Mr. H.C. Mattox, 77, who died here Saturday night after a long period of infirmity. Coming to Schley county from Phenix City, Ala., in 1935, Mr. Mattox suffered a crushed ankle when struck by a tree while working as a logger. He was given treatment by county authorities and, being left a semi- invalid, was given a home at the county camp. Many months ago, the county placed a house car at the edge of town on the Atlanta road for his use. Recently, he became seriously ill. He was placed on the county's old age pension list. So far as was known, Mr. Mattox, a native of South Carolina, had no living relatives. The Rev. Charles D. Carter officiated at the service.
