McCrory, 74, distinguished lawmaker and civic and religious leader, died Saturday night, March 8 at his home in Ellaville. Early in the 1900's, the brilliant Schley countian introduced the famous McCrory Free School Book Bill in the legislature and fought for its passage through his long career in the house and senate. He also was the author of many other important pieces of legislation. He married Miss Susie Berry 43 years ago. Long a trustee of Ellaville school, he also had been secretary of the Methodist Sunday school for 54 years, having been the only person ever to hold that office. Funeral services were conducted from Ellaville Methodist church Tuesday, March 11.
