MURRAY, 48 Schley county friends and relatives are grieved by the passing in Talbotton last Wednesday night of Mr. J.A. Murray, 48, who had been ill for several weeks. Mr. Murray was born in Midway community and made his home there until 16 years ago when he moved to Talbotton. He had been employed by the state highway department. He was the oldest son of Mrs. H.L. Murray and the late H.L. Murray. Funeral services were held at Talbotton Baptist church in Talbotton Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with his pastor, the Rev. H.J. Fussell, assisted by Rev. Mr. Sanders, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Vernon cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie Bell Turner Murray, four daughters, Misses Ruth Inez, and Henrie Murray of Atlanta, Miss Martha Murray, Talbotton; his mother, Mrs. H.L. Murray; a sister, Mrs. C.M. Fulford; two brothers, M.C. Murray of Midway community and L.A. Murray, U.S. Navy, San Diego, Cal., and a number of other relatives. Pallbearers were E.R. Helms, T.H. Mahone, Tebe Taylor, C.H. Funderburk, B.C. Starling and Robert McKinnon. Among other out-of-town visitors attending the funeral of Mr. J.A. Murray Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Houchin, Mr. and Mrs. Jones Duffie and son of Atlanta; Mr. and Mrs. R.U. Turner, Montgomery, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Turner, and Mendal Turner, Albany; J.T. Turner, Lake Park, Ga.; Mrs. Elmo Oliver, Columbus; Mrs. J.H. Gunter, Elsie Gunter, and Mrs. Susie Kirkpatrick, Sylvester; Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Varner and Mrs. Jewell Franklin, Tifton; Mrs. J.R. Kelly and daughters, Mozell and Laverne, of Americus.
