Local News

Mr. Edgar Stewart while in Butler Saturday was summoned to Ellaville to attend 
the bedside of his sister, Mrs. A.C. Murray.  The latest news received in 
Butler was the to the effect there was no improvement in her condition.

- Later we regret to announce Mrs. Murray died at an early hour this morning.

Funeral of Mrs. A.C. Murray Conducted at Ellaville on Wednesday

Relative to the death of Mrs. A.C. Murray, occurring Tuesday morning last at 
her home at Ellaville mention of which was made in our last issue, the Schley 
County News says in part:

“All of our people are sad because of the death of Mrs. A.C. Murray.  She died 
March 23rd and was buried in the Ellaville cemetery.  Funeral services were 
conducted at the Methodist church by Rev. J.M. Rustin, assisted by R.F. 
Williamson.”

“In early life she joined the Methodist church and by her daily life and 
conversation she made manifest peep piety. No one ever lived among us who had 
more true friends and we all miss her cheery smile and words of encouragement 
to greater endeavor.”

“She was reared by parents of the old type of rigged honesty and who by their 
example inculcated into her, a character of the truest and highest type.  
Whatever her hands found to do, she did it and no one ever appealed to her in 
vain to help the poor and needy.”

“She married A.C. Murray in 1886 and was 53 years old.  Her father, Rev. Bennie 
Stewart and mother, Mary Stewart have gone to their reward.”
