Ellaville, Georgia, Saturday, September 26, 1885 Vol. 1 No. 1 A. J. Harp, Publisher Death of Mrs. Sarah Mott Died at her residence in Schley County, Georgia, on the morning of 22nd of September, 1885, Mrs. Sarah Mott, widow of Joseph Mott who died in 1876. She had been in bad health for sometime and her death though sudden was not wholly unexpected. She died of valvular disease of the heart. She was taken suddenly in her last illness and was conscious of her approaching dissolution, but with a firm and abiding trust in her Savior, she met her end as only the good can. Her children were all present and shared her parting blessing. The last struggle came just as the shades were being lifted from the earth, and her spirit took its flight to the saints eternal rest. She was the daughter of Issac and Annie Eubanks, was born in Warren County, Georgia and moved to this county when quite young, was married to Joseph Mott 10th, July 1845. She was baptized into the fellowship of Fellowship Baptist Church in April 1846 by Rev. Phillip Belcher, near where she sleeps. She liked only two days of completing her sixty fourth year. None knew tried to make a show of her religion (sic), but what was far better she lived it and its reflection was plainly seen. The pious impress of her example and her motherly training is lastingly impressed on her children all of whom are orderly members of the church except the youngest--a son a quiet orderly young man. She was the mother of eight children, one preceding her to the good world. She never turned the needy away empty. Her house was a home for the weary minister who was always met with a warm welcome. The church where she often worshiped was full the day of her burial. She lived and died a member of the first church she joined. We have thought that she was one of the few that could make no improvement on her past life could she live it over again. May her parting admonitions never be forgotten, and her children and friends meet her in heaven. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
