MEADOWS Much sadness was caused in the Garden Valley district and the whole county as well, by the death of Mr. R.C. Meadows, Sunday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Daniel, his only near relative. He was an uncle of Mr. J.M. Meadows, of Montezuma. He was over 70 years of age, and has been a useful and honored citizen of the county and state. He was one time sheriff of the county of Schley. He was a faithful Confederate soldier, and a true and loyal member of the Masonic fraternity, by the Oglethorpe Lodge, of which order, his remains were entered Monday, with the usual appropriate ceremonies, in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Additional Comments: R.C. Meadows was a member of Company G, 5th Ga. Inf. (Schley Guards) and was awarded the Cross of Honor by the Phil Cook Chapter of the UDC in Montezuma, June 3rd, 1902.
