J.T. COLLINS Published in Schley County News July 22, 1917 Christian Lady called Above. Mrs. J.T. Collins dies at home here Sunday, buried Monday. The angel of death visited our city Sunday morning and carried away the sweet spirit of Mary E. Collins. Mrs. Collins before her marriage on February 18, 1858 to Mr. J. Thomas Collins was Miss Mary Elizabeth Murray of Taylor County. She was born in January 1840 and when seven years old became a member of the Methodist Church to which she was ever loyal and faithful. In 1873 she and her husband moved to Schley County and lived in this county until 1908 when they moved to Bronwood where they lived until the death of Mr. Collins, which occurred August 22, 1913. Since then Mrs. Collins has resided here. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church here at four o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. H.H. Heisen paid a sweet tribute to her beautiful life. The remains were interred in the Ellaville cemetery. Many floral offerings attested to the great love and high esteem in which she was held by our people. Having lived seventy-seven years full of good deeds there can be no question as to her welcome into that happier and brighter land. She is survived by four sons, Messrs. T.A., S.C., W.H., and E.E. Collins, all of Ellaville; one daughter, Mrs. Julia Dupriest of Bronwood; one brother, Mr. A.C. Murray of Ellaville, one sister, Mrs. J.G. McCants of Howard all of whom attended the funeral. Among others attending were Mrs. Lester Stewart of Sylvester, Mrs. Bell Collins and Misses Annie and Grace Collins of Bronwood, Mr. and Mrs. Haynes Collins of Atlanta, Mr. John S. Murray of Albany and Mrs. Julia Boland of Oxford. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
