Collins Mr. J. T. Collins died at his home at Bronwood Friday night. Buried here with Masonic Honors. Mr. Thomas Collins, an aged and esteemed citizen of Bronwood died in that city Friday night, last, and his remains were brought to Ellaville Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning at 10:00 o'clock his funeral was conducted from Methodist Church, Rev. John Hudson and J. M. Ruston officiating. At the cemetery the Masons took charge and concluded the services. Mr. Collins was born in Houston County in 1837 and was therefore seventy-six years of age. He moved to Schley County in 1873. On the 18th of February 1858 he was married to Miss Mary Murray in Taylor County. To This union were born seven children who survive him as follows: John, T.A., W.H., S.C., and E.E., Mrs. Julia Dupriest and Mrs. Mollie Murray, besides a large number of grandchildren. Mr. Collins was a man noted for his integrity, his straightforwardness, and his determination to do right. Unassuming in his manners, he made no great display of his abilities but his influence for good was felt and is strongly manifested in his five stalwart sons, four of whom are among our best citizens, always standing for the right, and helping in every enterprise that stands for the uplift of humnanity. For the past seven years Mr. Collins had resided in Bronwood, but he frequently visited where he always recieved a royal welcome from old friends, who could never forget his kindness, his generousity, and his deep interest in all affairs of life. Truely "his delight was in the love of the Lord". It seemed that he lived to do good, and be good. The world is made better by such men as J.T. Collins having lived in it; and those whose lives came in contact with his were enriched a thousand fold. We deplore his death but meekly bow to the will of a Creator who doeth all things well.
