Mrs. McMickle was 93 years of age at her death, and up to that time had retained all of her mental faculties. She was ill only a short time, and was known as the oldest resident of Schley County. She resided with her son, W. D. McMickle, who is 75 years of age. Mrs. McMickle moved to Schley County from Marion County 30 years ago. More than three quarters of a century ago, in 1852, she was married to W. D. McMickle, who died in 1900. For many years she managed her farm and reared a family of seven children, all of whom married, but all of her children are dead, with the exception of her 75-year-old son. There are 150 descendants scattered over this and other states, including 25 grandchildren, 100 great grandchildren, and 25 great great grandchildren. The following grandchildren survive: L. S. McMickle, Ellaville; W. D. McMickle, Moultrie; Mrs. J. A. Jordan, Ellaville; P. J. McMickle, Charing; Robert McMickle, Hartsfield; Mrs. T. J. Cook, Schley County; R. S. Cosby, Preston; Mrs. Will Chapman, Sylvester; Mrs. Floyd Davis, Buena Vista; Mrs. Jack French, Preston; Mrs. Bob Gordon, Moultrie; Mrs. R. L. Johnson, Ellaville; Walter McMickle, Columbus; Harvey and Manson McMickle, Buena Vista; Rufus McMickle, Moultrie; Mrs. Edgar Melton, Columbus; W. D. Moulton, Elisabeth Moulton, Madison, FLA; Charles McMickle, Bob Bell, Charing; and Tom Bell, of Schley County. She is also survived by 100 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at Phillipi Primitive Baptist Church at 3 o’clock Monday afternoon and were conducted by her pastor, Elder T. V. Price. Additional Comments: none of her daughter, LeAnna McMickle Cooper’s children were listed as surviving grandchildren, even though they were all still living at her death. It seems that the Webster County, GA line of the family lost touch with their matriarch for some reason when see moved to Schley County, GA. In the Schley County History, her list of children include two unnamed daughters that married a Cooper. They were Martha V. and LeAnna, both of whom married my great- grandfather William Edmond Cooper. William first married Martha V. “Mattie”, and she died shortly thereafter. Subsequently, William married LeAnna, who became the mother of all his seven children: William David “Dee” Cooper, Joseph Lee Cooper, (Sr.), Kizzie A. (Mrs. Jesse J.) Sanders, Edna E (Mrs. William Wise “Pete”) Harry, Leila E. (Mrs. William Wintry) Harry, Laura L. (Mrs. Joseph) Gill, and Lillie Myrtle (Mrs. Walter) Harry.
