The Schley County News Thursday, January 4, 1900. A SAD DEATH Master Raymond Julian Collins Died Friday, December 22nd. One of the saddest deaths it has been ever been our duty to chronicle was that of Master Raymond Julian Collins, which occures at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Collins, Friday, December 22nd, 1899. Raymond had been in poor health for several months from a spinal infection caused by an injury reeived at school last winter. Raymond had been carried to Atlanta by his father and Dr. B.L. Bridges to receive treatment from the most skillful physicians. Everything that loved ones and the physician could do was done for the little sufferer, but nothing could stay the Grim Reaper, Death. Raymond was an unusually bright boy and a general favorite with both old and young, white and colored. By his sunny nature and pleasant manners he endeared himself to everyone. He was loved by all and just before he breathed his last he said, "I love everybody, all is over now." Raymond was nine years of age, having died on his birthday. The fond parents have our heartfelt sympathy in this hour of sad affliction. No one knows so well as this writer how devoted Raymond was to his mother and she to him. The funeral service was conducted at the Methodist church Saturday, December 23rd, 1899, by the pastor, Rev. T.R. McMichael, in an impressive manner. The interment was at the Ellaville cemetery. The sound of the voice that is still will be listened for in vain in this sorrowful home. Time always makes an effort to alleviate our sorrows here, but there is no true freedom from them this side of eternity. Bereaved ones, look for consolation to Him "who is too wise to err, and too good to be unkind." (Note: Mr. T.A. Collins, Raymond's father, is listed along with R.E. Elliott as proprietors of The Schley County News. R.E. Elliott was editor and manager.) This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
