PAYNE, 82, IS LAID TO REST HERE W.J. Payne, 82, retired Americus hardware salesman and a native of Schley county died at (home) in Americus Sunday morning. Funeral services were held at the chapel of Americus Undertaking Company Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock with the Rev. Mack Anthony and the Rev. T.E. Davenport, officiating. Burial was in Ellaville cemetery. Son of Pollard F. Payne and Mrs. Louise Fleming Payne, he was born in Schley county August 5, 1860. He was employed by Sheffield Company, Americus, for many years. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Angie Singletary Payne; one son, Henry C. payne, assistant postmaster, of Americus: two daughters, Miss Deloca Payne, of Americus, and Mrs. Minnie R. Murphy, of Jacksonville, S.C., one half-sister, Mrs. Maude Sewell, of DeQuincy, La.; and five grandchildren, Selma M. Payne, of Macon, Lizabeth Ann Payne, of Americus; William Murphy, of Camden, N.J., H.B. Murphy, Jr., of Raleigh, N.C., and Harry Murphy, of Hemingway, C.S. (S.C.?)
