Phillips, 85, of Ellaville, died Saturday, October 24, 1998 at her residence. Funeral services were held Sunday October 25, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ellaville Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Cannon officiating with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Cordele. Mrs. Phillips was born September 30, 1913 at Barbour County, AL and was the daughter of John Frederick and Frances Elizabeth Wilkinson Simmons, was a member of Ellaville Baptist Church, a member of "The Schley Ones," was a licensed pratical nurse, and served at GA Southwestern College in that capacity for ten years. Mrs. Phillips was the widow of L.T. Phillips. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Ellis and Mrs. Lentz Williams, both of Ellaville, one son Royce Phillips of Jacksonville, FL; a sister-in- law, Mrs. Ruth Helms, Clio, AL; a brother-in-law, Woodham Rhodes, Cordele; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Mae Riley, Headland, AL and Mrs. Virgie Lee Swails, Alfred, FL; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Grandsons served as pallbearers, Mitchell Ellis, Michael Ellis, Russell Phillips, Leamon Phillips, Roger Williams, James Williams, Roy Lynn Ellis and Herbert Williams, Jr. Giddens Funeral Home of Ellaville was in charge of arrangements.
