H. Walter Sellars, was born in Schley County, Ga., June 24th, 1878, and died at the residence of his father, J.H. Sellars, in the same county, January 1st, 1912. He was married to Miss May Rainey, October 14th, 1900. From this union two girls were born, who with the wife survive him. In writing of his character we feel that it is not necessary to indulge in words of eulogy; for his life was in itself a splendid testimonial. He was true to every trust of life. Ever considerate of the comforts of his family or the needs of his friends. He was from boyhood a member of the Methodist church, and was always thoughtful of its interests, true to its vows, and in daily life consistent without reproach. Stricken with that dread disease, tuberculosis, his case was hopeless from the beginning, but he found comfort in his religious experience, and bore his sufferings with a fortitude and patience which gave evidence of his genuine spirituality. As a business man, citizen, public official, neighbor, or friend he manifested such true worth and displayed such sterling qualities as to place him the peer of any in our midst, and to cause many hearts to be saddened at his untimely going away. Brother Sellars became a member of Ellaville Lodge No. 208, Knights of Pythias in 1908 and ever manifested a genuine interest in everything partaining to its welfare; while in his daily life he fittingly exemplified the principles of the highest, purest type of Pythianism. At his request the lodge which he loved so tenderly laid his body away with Pythian honors; the service being held from the Methodist church, at Ellaville, Ga. Whereas we the officers and members of Ellaville Lodge No. 208, Knights of Pythias, feel keenly the blow which has fallen upon us in the untimely going away of our brother, H. Walter Sellars, yet do we bow reverently to the mandate of Him who makes no mistakes, thereto. Be it resolved 1, That this lodge has lost one of its most loyal and faithful members; one whose counsels were wise, whose bearing was knightly, and whose life was inspiring. Resolved 2, That we tender to the stricken loved ones our sincerest condolences, that we assure them of the genuineness of our sympathy in this bereavement. Resolved 3, That the resolutions be spread upon a page of the Minute book of this lodge. Resolved 4, That the resolutions be published in the Schley County News.
