NEGRO KILLED BY SEMINOLE LIMITED
Theories Afloat of Foul Play, While General Opinion Differs
On last Saturday night the southbound Seminole train, enroute to Jacksonville, 
Fla., ran over Ephriam Smith, a colored man of this place, the accident 
occurring just beyond the incorporate limits on the north side of town about 
12 o'clock.  The negro was badly mangled by the train, his condition being so 
serious that the doctors could do nothing except to appease his suffering 
until death came the following Monday afternoon.  Several different theories 
were afloat as to how the darky came to be on the track at that time of 
night.  Some think that he had met with foul play and was placed there by 
other, while it is the more general opinion that he was under the influence of 
whiskey and went to sleep on the track.
