Mr. Smith was dead when his wife reached him after being summoned by a negro who saw him lying in the field about 10 o'clock. He was a World War veteran and a burial flag was furnished by the local post office. Surviving besides his widow, the former Miss Nellie McDonald, are five children, Robert, Elsie, Billy, Shirley and john; his father, L.W. Smith of Sumter county; a brother, Claude Smith of Detroit, and a sister, Mrs. C.G. Campbell, Andersonville; the following half-sisters; Willie, Odell, Dennis, Ida, Leila and Hansel Smith, and Mrs. Elizabeth Stewart, all of Americus; Mrs. John Taylor of Thomaston, and L.J.
