Stewart Passes Away Tuesday Night In the quiet stillness of the night, when not a leaf stirred nor a sound was heard, the death angel without a single warning entered the home of one of our best citizens and took away in its icy clasp the wife and mother. How unexpressably sad is such a going. To the real Christian, death is but the entrance to a happier and brighter sphere, but that does not lessen the grief of those who are left in sorrow, and we are prone to mourn when our loved ones are translated to the great beyond. Mrs. Stewart retired for the night as well as usual but as attack of apoplexy rendered her unconscious and in a few minutes telephone messages told that she was dead. All was done for her that loving hands could do but to no avail. Her spirit had departed to the God who gave it. At the time of her death, Mrs.. Stewart was sixty-one years old. She was born and reared in Schley county, and with the exception of a few years had lived here all her life. Truly it can be said to know her was to love her. She was a true Christian character and held high to the Christian principles as taught in the Bible. Her faith in her Lord was strong and she received untold blessings from his hands. A more devoted wife never lived. She simply idolized her husband and children and to them she gave the very best part of her life. A family reunion was held just a few weeks ago and how happy she was over the homecoming of those she loved. Now she has gone to that far off home to be with those who have gone before and while she can be no more with those she loved so dear, they can live to meet her in that bright and beautiful land, for they have the full assurance, that she entered the pearly gate, and will be waiting to welcome them there. We mingle our tears with theirs and sympathize with them in their sorrow and with them can only say, "Sleep on beloved, and take thy rest. Lay down thy head upon thy Savior's breast, We loved thee well, but Jesus loved thee best, Sleep on." Additional Comments: I believe this to be Mary E. Mott Stewart, wife of James T. Stewart, born Mar. 30, 1852. She is buried at Ellaville cemtery.
