LAST TRIBUTE PAID MRS. TOM TONDEE
Final tribute was paid Mrs. Thomas C. Tondee, 77, beloved Ellaville woman at 
funeral services conducted from the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.G. Stewart, 
here Sunday afternoon at four o'clock.  Mrs. Tondee died at 7 o'clock Saturday 
morning, after an illness of two weeks.  She had been in declining health for 
sometime.  The Rev. Roy J. Bond officiated, and was assisted by the Rev. Hugh 
Dozier.  Burial was in Ellaville cemetery.  A native of Schley county, she was 
Miss Dola Morrison, born Dec. 16, 1864.  She was married to Mr. Tondee on 
February 10, 1881.  They spent their entire married life here.  He passed away 
on August 17, 1931.  Mrs. Tondee was a member of the Methodist church.  She 
was known and admired for her love of flowers and her persistence and success 
in growing them.  Through the years she spent every possible hour in her large 
yard and nursery, and cultivated many rare specimens.  Survivors include one 
daughter, Mrs. Stewart, with whom she resided for the past several months; 
four grandchildren, Mrs. R.B. Strickland, Americus; Thomas and Alice Mae 
Tondee, Pamona, Cal.; Mrs. Ethel Rhea Worthy, Santa Barbara, Cal.; five great-
grandchildren, Stewart and Larry McLeod, Ellaville; Gloria, Beverly Jean and 
Judge Strickland, of Americus.  Pallbearers were W.T. Tondee, Wilson Tondee, 
Clyde Tondee, Linton Tondee, Hill Tondee and Morris Hill.
