She would have reached her 100th birthday in October. Mrs. Watson had a number of friends here, formed on visits to her granddaughter. She was the subject last summer of a Sun feature story, recounting experiemces as a refugee in the War Between the States. Remarkably active, she showed little trace of extreme age and enjoyed riding in an automobile more than 300 miles a day. Mrs. Watson who died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. L.L. O'Kelley, had been ill for three weeks. She was born near Griffin, October 25, 1842, the daughter of Asa and Mary Buttrill, pioneer Butts county settlers, and became the wife of the late Capt. Larkin Douglas Watson, taking an active part with him in the development of the county. In addition to Mrs. O'Kelley, she is survived by a son, Col. L.D. Watson, Jr., of Gainesville; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
