A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. A graveside service is planned for 4:00 p.m. that day at Ellaville City Cemetery in Ellaville, Ga. with Rev. William Herndon officiating. Mrs. Weaver was born November 2, 1933, in Schley County, Ga, the daughter of the late Rupert Merlee Etheredge Manning and Simpson Alonzo Manning. She was the youngest of seven children. Mrs. Weaver was a longtime teacher in the area. She first taught at East Crisp High School and then at New Era in Sumter County in the 1950s. She taught at Americus High School, 1962-1970. In the 1970s and 1980s she taught at Central Junior High, Staley High School, and Southland Academy. She worked for the Ga. Dept. of Labor, 1985-86. She was a beloved teacher and mentor, and had fond memories of all of her students. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Americus. Mrs. Weaver is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Weaver Behsmann and her husband, Bill, of Colorado Springs, Colo., son, James [Jim] Herchel Weaver, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Jasper, Ga., brother, Norman Manning, and wife, Beverly, of Waleska, Ga., brother-in-law, Walter Weaver, and wife, Martha, of Chattanooga, Tenn., grandchildren, Katie Weaver, Kelly Weaver and fiancé, Trevor, Jessica Weaver Burgess and husband, Eric, and Nathan Weaver, and great- grandchildren, Jack Turner and Raleigh Burgess. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her beloved husband James [Jimmy] Herchel Weaver. They were married on May 5, 1955, and were married for 44 years until his death in 1999.
