JIM WOODS Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Jim Woods who passed away at her home in Marion County on Tuesday morning, funeral services were held at Tante-Giddens Funeral Home in Buena Vista on Wednesday with burial in the Ellaville cemetery. Mrs. Woods was well known here and is survived by her husband and several brothers and sisters. (Note: death date Jan. 31, 1968). Descendants of Charner Beatrice Boland Generation No. 1 1. CHARNER BEATRICE3 BOLAND (WILLBURN JACKSON2, JOHN WESLEY1) was born 14 February 1899, and died 31 January 1968. She married (1) WILLIAM ROBERT GRESHAM 11 March 1932 in Schley County, GA, son of THOMAS GRESHAM and FAITHA. He was born 28 July 1863 in Americus, GA, and died 11 February 1949 in Putman, GA. She married (2) JAMES LYNDON WOODS Aft. 1950, son of CHARLES WOODS and ELIZABETH BARNES. He was born 14 July 1901, and died 14 February 1978. Notes for CHARNER BEATRICE BOLAND [1] Susie was adopted by Tommie Curtis Barnes and John Collum upon her parents deaths. CHARNER BEATRICE BOLAND, the name given her by her parents, but known as Susie, the eighth and last child of Wilburn Jackson Boland and Annie Bell Barnes; she was born February 14, 1899 at Ellaville, Schley Co., Ga. and died January 31, 1968. She was married twice. First, to W. R. Gresham who died in 1949. They had no children. Her second marriage was about 1950, to her first cousin, James Lyndon (Jim) Woods, born July 14, 1901, died February 14, 1978. He was the son of Elizabeth Leggett Barnes and Charles Stratton Woods. Susie and Jim are both buried in the City Cemetery in Ellaville, Ga. They lived at Putnam, Ga., near Buena Vista at the John M. Collum place, which Uncle John and Aunt Tommie (Barnes) Collum willed to her, as she had taken care of them in their later life. Susie and Jim had no children. Jim Woods was a private in the U. S. Army during WWI and was a farmer. Charner Beatrice Boland was almost six weeks old when her mother and father died. Her Aunt Tommie Curtis Barnes and her husband John M. Collum took her and her oldest brother, Glenn,and raised them. Aunt Tommie was a sister of their mother. They adopted Charner Beatrice Boland and legally changed her name to Susie Collum, but she was always referred to as Susie Boland. She was raised at Putnam, Ga., near Buena Vista. Susie graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Ga. and also graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. She was Postmistress and Depot Agent at Putnam, Ga. for the Central of Georgia Railway. Uncle John Collum suffered a crippling stroke several years before he died and Susie gave up her job to stay at home and nurse him until his death. Aunt Tommie was not able to take care of him by herself. More About CHARNER BEATRICE BOLAND: Burial: Ellaville City Cemetery, Ellaville, GA Notes for WILLIAM ROBERT GRESHAM: From Americus GA Times Recorder dated Feb. 14, 1949 (Monday) Services for Bob Gresham Held Ellaville, GA, Feb. 14 Funeral services for Bob Gresham, popular Marion County man, well-known in Schley County, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his sister in Putnam. Mr. Gresham died Friday afternoon at his home on the Marion-Schley County line, after a long illness. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Susie Collum, and three daughters Mrs. David Wicker, Putnam, Mrs. Howell Eason, Atlanta, and another daughter of Atlanta whose name could not be learned. (this was Mrs. Robert L. Thomas.) Rev. T. O. Lambert of the Buena Vista Methodist church officiated at the services Saturday afternoon, assisted by the Rev T. M. Lee of the Ellaville Methodist Church. Interment was in the Ellaville Cemetery. From the Marion County Patriot dated February 17, 1949 W. R. Gresham Passes W. R. Gresham, one of Marion counties oldest and most prominent citizens, died at his home in Putnam Friday afternoon after a prolonged illness. Mr. Gresham was in his 85th year. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his daughter Mrs. David Wicker, with the Rev. Lee pastor of the Hopewell Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Ellaville cemetery. Mr. Gresham was retired Section Foreman of the Central of Georgia Railway. He was born in Americus, Georgia but spent most of his life in Marion County. Mr. Gresham is survived by his wife, the former Miss Susie Collum, three daughters Mr. David Wicker of Putnam, Mrs. T. H. Eason and Mrs. R. L. Thomas of Atlanta, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The following served as pallbearers, Oliver Miller, Jack Busby, Ernest Hart, Felton Harbuck, Hilton Owens, and Billy Snyder.
