Thank you to both. The lady seated at the table is Nancy Paulina Murray Cook. She is estimated to be in her 60's at the time of this photograph and it is believed that the photograph was taken in 1917. The photo is somewhat unique, today, as what would be considered as indoor furniture has been moved outdoors for this picture. The reason is that in this era, in this area and many others, there was not adequate indoor lighting for photography and therefore most pictures were made outdoors. On the table are a number of objects of interest. Most notable are the two framed photographs of soldiers. The photograph on the left is that of Dr. James Murray Cook and the one on the right is that of Charles Wilbur Cook. Both survived WW1. The elaborate tablecover was undoubtedly made personally by Mrs. Cook. She was well-known for her crochet work. Also on the table is a service flag of sorts with two stars. Although it is difficult to be certain, I believe that this is a "Sons in Service" flag which originated during WW1. More about these flags can be found at: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/us%5Esvc.html Take a look and decide for yourself. The home in the background is that of Mrs. Cook and was in the Concord area of north Schley county. Thank you to Harriette Murray and Margaret Gooding for their invaluable help with this posting.
