Williams residence about 7 p.m. Saturday, burned this home, the Ellaville school building and the Williams and C.R. McCrory barns. The blaze threatened that entire section of town and help was requested from the Americus fire department. The truck from that city made the trip here in 24 minutes. School re-opened the following Wednesday in Schley county courthouse, with long tables substituting for desks not saved from the flames. Additional Comments: The above article from The Ellaville Sun speaks of the fire that destroyed the Crisp Institute pictured here. The school was built in 1897. The fire occurred on Nov. 4, 1916.
