It dates from the late teens and early 1920's up until the mid 1940's when the McMath family owned the Americus Peach Company. It comprised some 5,000 acres of family owned peach orchards in Schley and Sumter counties. They also bought peaches from surrounding farmers for shipping to markets in New York, Chicago & Philadelphia. This was once a booming business in the Schley/Sumter county area. Each company had their own label and sometimes several. They are highly collectible today for their historic significance and colorful artwork. The family also owns the Americus Oil Company which was established in 1885.
