The Grand Jurors, sworn, chosen and selected for the County of Schley to wit:

In the name and behalf of the State of Georgia, charge and accuse Berry Meeks 
& Hilliard Meeks with the offense of arson.  For that the said Berry Meeks & 
Hilliard meeks on the 2nd day of Jan, in the year Eighteen Hundred and Ninety 
7, in the country aforesaid, did then and there, unlawfully and with force and 
arms...the dwelling house of Mack English, said dwelling house then & there 
situated in said county & on the plantation of said Mack English did willfully 
& maliciously burn said house ...... then & there occupied.

(From the reverse side)
We the jury find the defendant Hilliard Meeks guilty and recommend(?) that he 
be punished by confinement in the penitentiary for life.

(Unexplained is how ? Allen, who is not on the list of jurors became the 
foreman of this jury.)
