When the county seat was moved from Lanier to Oglethorpe in 1854, the house was sold at public outcry in Lanier to Mr. Joseph Mott. Mr. Mott disassembled the building and moved it to Schley county and reassembled it. It became his home. He and his wife reared 15 children in this house. It was torn down in late 1978 or early 1979, so this picture predates that.
