WALKER, JR., SUNDAY Prominent among the important weddings of the holiday season was that of Miss Gladys Arrington and John C. Walker, jr., of Marshallville which was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Arrington, Sunday at 12 o'clock. Rev. Hugh Dozier, pastor of Ellaville Baptist church officiated before an assemblage of relatives and friends. An altar was improvised in the living room of the home, formed of miniature pine trees interspersed with garlands of Southern smilax, against which seven branched candelabra holding burning white tapers and floor baskets of gladioli were placed. The mantel was banked with Southern smilax, and in the midst of the greenery seven tapers were placed alternately. Pedestal baskets held long stemmed white narcissi and garlands of bamboo decorated the dining room entering the living room. A program of nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Bessie Lou Lightner and Miss Ruth Statham of Moultrie. As Mrs. Lightner played "At Dawning" by Cadman, Miss Frances Arrington, sister of the bride lighted the candles about the improvised altar and on the mantle. Following the lighting of the candles, Miss Statham sang, "Because" by D' Hardelot and "I Love You Truly" by Carrie Jacobs Bond. Mrs. Lightner wore a becoming wine colored ensemble with black accessories and a shoulder corsage of white camellias. To the strains of Mendelssohn's wedding march the bride and groom entered unattended. The bride wore a lovely suit of slate wool trimmed in brown squirrel. The fur tapered to the edge of the coat that rippled at the waist line. She wore a smart hat made of the same material as the dress. Her accessories were brown and a shoulder corsage of orchids showered with lilies of the valley completed her costume. Mrs. Arrington, mother of the bride, wore a dress of teal blue crepe. Her corsage was of dusty pink camellias. Mrs. Walker, mother of the groom, wore black crepe trimmed in black lace. Her accessories were black and she wore a corsage of white camellias. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained with a wedding breakfast. Assisting Mrs. Arrington in serving were Miss Ruth McNeal, Miss Lucile Thompson, Mrs. Julian Bonner, Mrs. C.C. Williamson, Mrs. M.F. Pixton, Jr., Mrs. M.J. Arrington, Mrs. A.A. Arrington, Jr., and Mrs. M.C. Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Walker left for a wedding trip to be planned along their route and after January 4, they will be at home to their friends at the home of the groom's mother near Marshallville. Out of town guests at the wedding were, Mrs. J.C. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Walker, Felton Walker, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Lester, Mr. and and Mrs. Ben Oliff, Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Murph, Mrs. L.M. Felton, Mrs. O.K. David, Miss Louise Rice, Mrs. Miles Crocker, Mrs. M.H. Crocker, Marshallville; Dr. and Mrs. A.A. Arrington, Jr., Thomaston; Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Pixton, Jr., Atlanta; Mrs. Julian Bonner, Miss Jane Bonner, Centerville, Ala.; H.B. Arrington, Columbia, S.C.; Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Massee, Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Massee, Macon; Miss Ruth Statham, Moultrie; and Mrs. A.C. Kimble of Americus.
