GETTYS SUNDAY The marriage of Miss Carolyn Blanche Currie and Joseph Chalmers Gettys was quietly solemnized Sunday, June 23, at four o'clock at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. James Flournoy Currie, at Mount Vernon, Georgia. The setting was one of dignity and simplicity. The living room was decorated with gladioli and roses in pastel shades. In the dining room a color scheme of green and white was used. The bride's table, overlaid with a handmade lace cloth, was centered with a silver basket of white carnations and snapdragons sprayed with baby's breath. Silver candlesticks held green unshaded tapers. Mints in crystal dishes completed the table arrangement. Containers filled with white gladioli and roses and crystal candlesticks holding white candles were effectively arranged on buffet and mantle. The couple entered together and were met in the center of the room by the Rev. R.L. Robinson, pastor of the Mount Vernon Baptist church, who performed the ring ceremony in the presence of members of the two families. Mrs. Getty's dress was an eton model designed by Vogue. Its material was navy blue seventh heaven crepe. The blouse was of lace in a soft shade of petal pink. Gloves and bag of the same shade were used. A shoulder corsage of roses and lilies of the valley completed the costume. Immediately after the ceremony the guests were served ice cream and cake with the color scheme of green and white being carried out. Out of town guests were: Mrs. M.C. Gettys of Ellaville, mother of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Byars, and son, Harry of Columbus, Mr. M.D. Gettys and Mr. F.C. Gettys of Gastonia, N.C., Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Littlejohn of Gaffney, S.C., Mrs. R.F. Dobbs, Dick and Roy Hobbs of Abbeville, Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Mann and Joe Mann of Cordele. Other guests included the Rev. and Mrs. R.L. Robinson, Dr. and Mrs. J.E. Hunt. The bride and groom left immediately for a wedding trip. They will reside in Miami, Fla., where the groom is manager of a super food store for Southern Food Stores, Inc.
