MISS AVELYN DUCK AND CPL CALLAHAN MARRIED
Enlisting the interest of a wide circle of friends was the marriage of Miss 
Avelyn Duck to Cpl. William Morgan Callahan, which was solemnized Tuesday, 
January 5, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Duck on 
Americus-Ellaville highway.  The bride's brother, the Rev. Alfred Duck, pastor 
of Gate City church, College Park, officiated.  The ceremony was performed 
before an impressive alter of ferns banked between two windows in the living 
room.  Flanking either side were seven-branch candelabra holding waxen white 
tapers and arrangements of paper narcissi placed on pedestal stands.  White 
gladioli and Narcissi were placed throughout the home.   The attractive bride 
wore a model of heaven blue crepe, accented by touches of Persian braid and 
worn with black accessories.  Her coursage was of pink camelias.  Mrs. 
Callahan is the elder daughter of Mr. and mrs. Duck, well-known citizens of 
Sumter county.  She was graduated from Georgia Southwestern College, Americus, 
and attended Asbury college, Wilmore Kentucky.  She has been first grade 
teacher of Ellaville consolidated school for the past two yearsand will 
continue her work.  The elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Callahan, of Rupert, 
the groom is now dispatcher at Pecos Field, Pecos Texas.  Before entering 
service he was employed by T.W. Wilson, Ellaville druggist.
