On Saturday last Coroner Jerry Duke of Schley County, aged seventy years, took 
a jaunt to Macon, where he was married to Mrs. Chance, a lady of only twenty-
six years.  The Sumter Republican says “Uncle Jerry has returned home as happy 
as a wood-sawyer, and as sprightly as any of the boys.” – Smithville News

We have always heard that matrimony was a chance business, and here is a 
veritable illustration of it.
