Robt. Patton, of Schley County, and Miss Minnie Halley, of Tazewell, were married at Americus Wednesday, where Miss Halley had been teaching a music class. The happy couple returned to the home of the groom in Schley County immediately after the marriage. =============== The Marion County Patriot, No. 49 December 14, 1888 Page Two From Tazewell The marriage of Miss Minnie Halley to Mr. H.R. Patton, though it has already been announced through the columns of this paper, was quite a romantic one. They had been sweethearts for a long time. Miss Minnie went down to Americus to complete her musical education under Prof. Schneider. She had taken only one lesson, when Mr. Patton, learning of her whereabouts, went down to Americus where they were married. They came back to Mrs. G.G. Halley's the mother of the bride, where they were pleasantly serenaded on Thursday night with both instrumental and vocal music by the young ladies and men of Tazewell. May the barque of the newly married pair ever sail smoothly over life's rough sea.
