State-Wide Interest in the Wedding of Mr. N.B. Stewart

The Savannah Press of Tuesday under the caption “An Interesting Americus 
Wedding” says:

“Considerable interest is felt in Savannah in the approaching wedding of Mrs. 
Lucy Cobb Taylor of Americus, and Nathaniel B. Stewart of Schley County, 
Georgia, but now resident of Durban, South Africa, as consul of the United 
States.  The wedding will take place at Calvary Episcopal Church, Americus, on 
Wednesday of next week Rev. J.B. Lawrence officiating.  Mr. and Mrs. Stewart 
will spend some time in the north before leaving for South Africa via London 
and other European cities.

Mrs. Taylor is the daughter of Capt. John A. Cobb, for many years Ordinary of 
Sumter County, and the granddaughter of General Howell Cobb, one of the most 
prominent men in Georgia’s history.  She has an extensive and prominent family 
connection in Savannah, Athens, Atlanta and other Georgia cities.  Mr. Stewart 
is a graduate of the University of Georgia.  After some years’ service in the 
Phillipines in a civil capacity he entered the consular service.  For several 
years he was stationed at Madras, India, going thence to Durban, an important 
post in British South Africa dominions.  He is a man of fine culture with many 
friends scattered over the state.

Note from the transcriber: I was unable to locate any additional items for this 
wedding.  The following week's issue of the Herald was missing and the marriage 
was most likely included in that issue of the newspaper.
