J(ames) L. Murray was the husband of Mary E. Patton, Robert Patton's daughter and only living child from his first marriage to Nancy Royal.) More Additional Comments: [["I have thought about getting in touch with you for almost two years about an error in the additional comments below the will of Robert Patton on US Gen Web Archives. Mary E. Patton (Mrs. James L Murray) is described as "Robert Patton's daughter and only living child from his first marriage to Nancy Royal." There was another child, a son, who was alive when his father died. John Robert Patton was born on Sept. 13, 1859. Nancy Royal Patton died on Nov. 14, 1859. The baby went home with Nancy's sister Julia A. Royal Murray (Mrs. John S. C. Murray) and always lived in Taylor County with the Murray family. He was not counted in the 1860 census, but is with the Murray family in 1870 and 1880. John Robert Patton married Fannie Waters McLendon on Dec. 31, 1885. He died on March 20, 1898 in the portion of Worth County that later became Turner County. His Find a Grave memorial is #105331964. They had two daughters. Monnie Corine Patton (1887-1969) never married. Alda Robert Patton (1896-1966) married Colister Lee Alexander. How did I learn all of this? I give all the credit to Ancestry's ThruLines. The computer found a DNA match with two reasons for the connection. My 3rd great grandmother Sarah Pace Ethridge was Robert Patton's half-sister. My 2nd great grandmother Dora Ann Royal Murray was the sister of Nancy Royal Patton. There were matches to descendants of Mary Electra Patton Murray, and then there was the big surprise: a match to someone whose great grandfather was the son of Robert Patton. ??? and I exchanged some messages. I worked to get links on Find a Grave. He shared a letter from Samuel Robert Patton, son of Samuel Asa and Mary Ella Patton, sent to Fannie Patton soon after the death of John Robert Patton in 1898. I love the letter, but because ??? hasn't chosen to share it on Ancestry, will not do anything with it myself. I couldn't figure out a way to add something to the posting about the will, but wanted to let you know about the missing son."
