SILAS MORTON CEMETERY

(husband of Mary Hunter Morton married 1813)

Note:  Silas Morton grave located by Holly Bragg,
[reporter for Statesboro Herald] on a lonely dirt
road close to the Effingham County, GA line,
enclosed with a wrought iron fence, the only grave
there.

Marriage license granted to MR. SILAS MORTON with
MISS MARY HUNTER, both of Scriven County, Georgia,
dated 5/19/1813, as recorded in Effingham County,
Georgia, Book 1, page 260, Miscellaneous Records of
Effingham County, GA

Note:  from Mrs. Julian C. Lane’s Historical
Collections, Volume V, page 46: James Young married
Lavinia Jones, grand-daughter of Francis Jones, a
native of Wales; Francis Jones married 1st, Mary
Robins, and they had 3 children.

He married 2nd Elizabeth Huckabee and they had 7
children; one was James, b. 1764 married Elizabeth
Mills September 27, 1791 one daughter was Lavinia
Jones married James Young one son Mathew married
Emily Morton, daughter of Silas Morton question:
when did Mathew Jones die and Emily Morton Jones
marry a Young, as stated in her father’s will,
above, in 1852?
