Indenture between William Sheriff and Hardy Richardson 08 Jan 1796 GEORGIA This indenture made the eighth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Sevenhundred and ninety six. Between William Coursey Sheriff of Scriven County for the year 1795 of the one part and Hardy Richardson of the State and County aforesaid of the othr part Witnesseth that whereas a tract of three hundred and fifty acres of land lying on the South side of Great Ogechiee River and on the North side of Sculls Creek taken by virtue of execution as the Property of Benjamin Richardson Esquire including the plantation where in he now lives and sold to Hardy Richardson of the State and County aforesaid for the sum of fifty three dollars for the sum he being the highest bidder being previously advertized the time required by law. I do therefore by the authority in me vested for and in consideration of the aforesaid sum of fifty three dollars bargain, sell convey release and confirm unto the Said Hardy Richardson all the estate, right, title, claims or interest of the said Benjamin Richardson Esquire and his heirs to the afore said tract of land containing three hundred and fifty acres. Originally granted to the aforesaid Benjamin Richardson Esqr and thereby lying in the County of Effi ngham now Scriven bounded on all sides by Vacant land at the time of survey thereof Together with all and Singular the improvements and emoluments therewith belonging or in anywise appertaining so far as the said Sh riff lawfully may or can dispose of the same by the power in him vested To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land with all and singular the premises hferein before mentioned unto the said Hardy Richardson his heirs and assigns hereforth and forever and for no other use intend or purpose whatsoever in as large and ample a measure as the said Benjamin Richardson Esqr or his heirs might or ought to have Sold and enjoyed the same.
