DIED FROM HEART FAILURE Death of Mrs. Mary Ann Scott of Effingham County. Mrs. Mary Ann Scott died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M. E. Dahl, at No. 413 Anderson street, east, at 4 o'clock yesterday morning, after a long illness, of heart disease. She was a resident of Effingham county, and was on a visit to her daughter. Mrs. Scott was 74 years of age, and had been a sufferer from a weak heart for several months. She was a widow and was well known for her deeds of charity. The remains were shipped to Screven county, and will be buried near Sylvania. Savannah Morning News Tuesday 23 Jan 1917 p 3 column 4 (funeral invitation on p 2). Mrs. Ophelia Scott Dahl, 56 years of age and a native of Screven county, died at an early hour yesterday morning at the residence, No. 423 Charlton street, east, after an illness of long duration. She is survived by her husband, M. E. Dahl; two sisters, Mrs Frank Bazemore of Sylvania and Mrs. Lucy Lee of Statesboro; two brothers, John and Thomas Scott of Sylvania. The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock from the residence. The service will be performed by the Rev. W. A. Taliaferro, pastor of the Second Baptist Church. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery. Savannah Morning News 4 Jan 1924. Manuel Emanuel Dahl, 75 years of age and a native of Sweden, died yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at a local hospital. He is survived by two sons, Henry M. Dahl and Charles O. Dahl, and three grandchildren. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the residence, 432 Price street. The services will be conducted by Rev. M. J. Epting, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery. She m 16 Oct 1850 m Hope Brigdon SCOTT C.S.A. b c 1830 d 5 Mar 1863, son of Nathaniel SCOTT & Mary Ann BRANNEN "Polly." Her guardian in 1850 was Alexander KEMP. Her children were Thomas Henry SCOTT, Dehlia SCOTT BAZEMORE, John Nathaniel SCOTT, Johanna SCOTT THOMPSON, Ophelia Isabella SCOTT DAHL, and Lucy J. SCOTT LEE.
