The deceased was seventy- eight years old. Mr. Lanier was married in 1839, and was the father of ten children, nine of whom, together with his wife, survive him. Among his children are Rev. T.W. Lanier of Guyton, Dr. J.D. Lanier, of Savannah, Captain W.H. Lanier, of Millen, and Dr. M.D. Lanier, of Sylvania.
