Last Will and Testament of Cynthia Anne Gray Brown Henderson I, Mrs. Cynthia A. Henderson, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make this my Last Will and Testament. Item First: I will and direct that all my just debts be paid by my Executrix, herein after named, without unnecessary delay. Item 2nd: I hereby give and bequeath to my husband William M. Henderson, all of my property both real and personal, wherever located for and during his natural life and upon his death it is my desire and I so will and direct that said property shall descend to and be divided among my following children: Mrs. Elizabeth Evans, Mrs. Annie L. Farr, Mrs. Mary A. Overstreet, Mrs. Emma G. Hollingsworth, and Miss Lottie L. Henderson in the following manner: I desire and so will and direct, that my daughter, Lottie L. Henderson, shall receive upon the death of my said husband, all that tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the 35th G. M. District of Screven County, Georgia, containing Twenty (20) acres, more or less, and bounded on the North by lands of E. L. Oliver, on the East by lands of J. C. Hollingsworth, Sr., on the South by the Louisville Public Road, and on the West by lands of H. W. Williams, the same being and including my home in which I now reside. I desire and so will and direct that upon the death of my said husband that all my remaining property, both real and personal shall be divided among my children above named, share and share alike, it being my intention that my daughter, Lottie L. Henderson shall have the home as a special bequest and shall share with my other children above named in the division of the remainder of my estate. Item 3rd: It has been my intention to dispose of all my property of every nature, but should there be any omitted, it is my will and I direct that such residue of my estate shall go to my husband if he is living at the time of my death and if not to my above named children, share and share alike. Item 4th: I hereby constitute and appoint my daughter Lottie L. Henderson the sole Executrix of this my last will and testament, hereby relieving her of giving any bond or making any returns or accountings to any Court. Cynthia A. Henderson. Strickland, Ordinary Recorded in Record of Wills, Book 1, Screven County, Georgia This Last Will and Testament of Mrs. Cynthia A. Henderson (nee Cynthia Anne Gray Brown, or Mrs. Wm. M. Henderson), was found in the Wills folder at the Probate Court, Screven County, Georgia, and transcribed by Carole Farr Drexel, her great great granddaughter, 2/14/2003. She is buried next to her husband, Wm. Michael Henderson, CSA, in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cooperville, Screven County, Georgia, in the Henderson Family plot. NOTES: William Michael Henderson, CSA, was born 28 February, 1843, to William Michael Henderson and his wife, Mary Ann Young, daughter of James Young and Lavinia Jones Young. He served in the 5th Georgia Calvary, and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant after his bravery was exhibited on the battlefield during the Battle of Buck Creek Church, Burke County, Georgia, wherein he rescued the fallen regiment flag. That flag was later, posthumorously, delivered to the Bulloch Troops in Statesboro, Georgia, in May of 1832, after his death at 6:00 a.m. at his home in Cooperville, Georgia, on 17th of April, 1932. He married Cynthia Anne Gray Brown at her father's home, Col W. M. Brown, CSA, in Marion County, Georgia, 10 October, 1865, said Marriage Certificate found in (Cynthia) Anne (Gray Brown) Henderson's family Bible, as married by Bro. W. M. Merritt, and as witnessed by Cynthia Anne' s brother, Dr. James F. Brown, and his wife, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Henderson Brown. Lizzie Brown, nee Henderson, was the sister of Wm. M.
